The battery pack performs exactly as described. Takes 4-5 hours to fully charge and gives you at least 5 hours of
recording time, as long as you are not using an accessory light on the mini-shoe. It is an essential addition as the supplied battery pack gives maybe an hour of time. It would get a "5" if it were not for the extortionist price.

Ordered this battery for the Canon HF100 prior to a long trip and it's simply amazing. It lasted for 5 hours of recording including reviewing and taking still pictures. The vidcam is mated to a class 6 32gb SDHC card and it's an ideal combination in taking HD videos with this battery. The battery does stick out but it's also functional when you're taking videos out from eye level... something to hold onto.

I have a Canon HF S11, and I am thankful I bought this battery. On the highest quality setting (MXP), the battery lasted over 4 hours (it's hard to say exactly how many since I was taking photos plus video). With that kind of capacity, I didn't miss anything.
With the HF S11 camcorder, the battery sticks out by about 1 inch, but the camcorder is so small anyway I don't notice it at all.
This battery is expensive, but it was worth being able to record without worrying about power or toting the battery charger Canon 2590B002 CG-800 Lithium Ion Battery Charger for 800 Series Batteries.

It is amazing that such a small battery gave over 3 hours of operation on a Canon HF20 camcorder. Very handy.

I used this battery on an 11-day nature cruise to Alaska, in a Vixia HF200. The battery reported a recording capacity of just over 300 minutes when fully charged. I had the camera on, pre-recording, for extended periods to catch glaciers calving or whales appearing, but never got below 50 minutes remaining in a day. It recharged overnight in the camera and I never had to switch to my backup BP-809.
